Tap Choose file and pick the file from Files / Downloads. Once opened, add RoadBook+ to your home screen: it works offline.
What can be opened
- A
.roadbook.jsonfile (RoadBook format 1.0 to 1.2, see the specification). - A
.roadbook.ziparchive exported by RoadBook+ (the JSON plus local media). - Pasted JSON from your clipboard.
- A direct link
https://roadbook.plus/#rb=<base64url JSON>: for small files, an AI can hand you a link that opens immediately (the fragment never reaches our servers). - A preview link from the RoadBook connector (MCP) in ChatGPT or Claude,
https://roadbook.plus/open#h=…&k=…: the roadbook is stored encrypted for 24 hours, the key travels only in the link, and it opens here on any device.
If the file is refused
The player tells you whether the file isn’t JSON at all, is JSON but not a valid RoadBook (with the exact paths and messages you can paste back to your AI), or targets a newer format version than this player reads. The online validator gives the same diagnostics and a ready-made repair prompt.
Privacy
Files are parsed in your browser and stored in its local database (IndexedDB). Nothing is uploaded when you open a RoadBook. Sync and sharing are optional, require an account, and are end-to-end encrypted: see our privacy notice.
